Di Grassi started from the pits, had fewer pushs, but made up for brilliant performance
Best rookie of the season in the Brazilian Stock Car Championship, Lucas Di Grassi surprised again with another impeccable recovery race during the second race of the double round staged on Sunday (4) in Goiânia. The Hero Motorsport driver abandoned the first race after a crash and was forced to start from the pits for the second race. With an impressive performance and determination, Di Grassi reached the end of the race with tires still in good condition and started a series of overtaking that almost brought him to the podium. Despite having fewer pushs than his competitors, Lucas finished in fourth place in one of the most demanding races of the season – the lead and top positions changed hands several times.
“It was a very exhausting race because I had to leave from the pits and when I was allowed to enter the track I already was a full straight behind the last car on the track,” Di Grassi, who already has three victories in 2018. “I had fewer pushs and on this track this was a serious drawback. I was able to do the overtaking I needed and I almost got to the podium. It was an exciting race, the kind you are proud to have done, “said Lucas.
The last round of the Brazilian Stock Car Series will be held in Interlagos, on December 9th.
