Lucas Di Grassi

For the second consecutive year, Di Grassi is chosen Best Brazilian Racing Driver

In expressive voting, almost 70% of the public also pointed Lucas as well as  the best Formula E driver in 2018

After chosen by the Brazilian motorsports journalists to win the prestigious Golden Helmet election in November, Lucas Di Grassi was appointed on Tuesday night (11) as the Best Brazilian Racing Driver of 2018 in the popular contest promoted by main national motorsports website Grande Premio. In an election that had as pre-qualified the recently crowned Stock Champion Daniel Serra, Rubens Barrichello, Felipe Nasr and Felipe Drugovich, Lucas reached 33.3% of the votes to conquer the first place. IMSA champion Felipe Nasr was second, with 21%. Serra was third (17.7%).

Also worthy noting was the wide margin given by the public by pointing Lucas as Formula E’s best driver in 2018. The Brazilian achieved an expressive 69.8% – far surpassing F-E’s defending champion, Jean-Éric Vergne, who reached 22,3%. In 2017, Di Grassi had already been chosen by the voting fans as winner in the two prizes above.

Considered the best Brazilian driver abroad and also the most important driver in Formula E history, Di Grassi deserved the votes of the public especially for two feats: the incredible recovery and the record of seven consecutive podiums in F-E as well as the three victories in his Brazilian Stock Car debut season.

Already involved with the opening round of the 2018/2019 Formula E season, Lucas received the news of his election abroad. “The cool thing here is that these elections are different. The Golden Helmet has the specialized media voting. And the Grande Premio election is decided by the fans of the sport. So it’s a double recognition that has enormous value for me, “said Di Grassi. “And it’s great to know that on the eve of the first F-E race in Saudi Arabia. I can think of anything that could motivate me more right now, honestly. Many thanks to all those in Brazil who accompany me and who always give me this extra strength with their support. I will do my best again in this new season to continue to deserve this kindness from all of you. I am going to the track this Saturday renewed and already very happy “, finalized the best Brazilian driver of 2018 and the best Formula E racer, in the opinion of the public.
