At the Velopark, Lucas sets fast times on the very first day

Di Grassi sets the seventh best time in free practice this Friday (20)

After the victory in Curitiba, Lucas Di Grassi set his first laps in the Autodromo do Velopark, in Southern Brazil, during the two official free practice sessions for the Brazilian Stock Car Championship.

The 2,278-meter circuit is part of the series calendar since 2010 and this weekend will host the 2018 season third round. In his first time at the track, Di Grassi established the seventh best mark among the competitive Brazilian grid – a result quite positive – which comprises names as former F-1 aces Rubens Barrichello, Nelson Piquet, Jr, Antonio Pizzonia and Ricardo Zonta.

“This is one of the tracks which I still do not know yet. But we’re in good shape and I hope we can do a good job again,” said Lucas. “This Friday we did the seventh time, which is a very positive thing, since it is the first time I have been on this track – and the Stock grid, everyone knows, is very competitive,” said the Hero Motorsport driver.

The victory in Curitiba was exciting, but Lucas believes he is still in a learning curve. “This will be a year of learning for me, I will race on tracks I do not know and I will still miss one of the double headers because of the Formula E calendar. So I think this season will be more to set me in the category,” added Di Grassi, who is second in the championship standings.
