Lucas shows fighting spirit and is 11 points from the vice-leadership. Drivers and teams titles were decided this Sunday in Germany
The Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi again had a difficult race on the track set up at Berlin’s Tempelhoff airport, in the race valid for the ninth round of the Formula E World Championship. After starting 12th, the Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler team driver undertook another recovery race and finished in sixth place, again getting important points that keep alive his chances of fighting for the vice-championship, since both the drivers and teams titles were won by DS Techeetah and the Portuguese António Félix da Costa.
At the moment, the second placed on the points is Frenchman Jean-Éric Vergne, who shares DS Techeetah technical package with Félix da Costa. “We will have another double round to end the 2020 season next Wednesday and Thursday. The races will take place right here in Tempelhoff and again the DS Techeetah will be the team to beat. But our team is committed and we will fight to the end, as we have done so far ”, pondered Di Grassi.
“About today’s race, in a competitive series like Formula E, when you start 12th you can’t expect much more than we did here. It could be better, yes, but it was what was possible at the moment ”, said the Brazilian, who now has 69 points and is tied with the German Maximilian Guenther (BMW Andretti). Vice-leader Jean-Éric Vergne totals 80 points.
