Team feelings about car remain high. Brazilian driver believes they can fight for another podium
After second place and fastest lap in the double round of Saudi Arabia, Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi remains optimistic for the continuation of the 2019/2020 Formula E World Championship season, which holds its third race on Saturday (18) at Chile. Home to another excellent Lucas’ performance last year, the Chilean track could also be the scene of yet another feat for the category record holder: at the Saudi round last November Lucas scored his 31st Formula E podium.
“Last year I got pole position in Santiago with a half second lead to second place on the grid. This is a factor that motivates our team, we will focus on another strong performance, we always try to do our best every second we are on the track,” summarizes Lucas, who currently occupies the fifth position in the standings. The leader is Englishman Alexander Sims, London driver for the BMW Andretti team. “We are confident that we have been able to develop a competitive car for 2020. That’s what we showed in Saudi Arabia and that’s what we want to show in Chile again,” continues the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler driver.
The race will be held again at Parque O’Higgins, a 2,287 meter course which underwent some revamping for this Saturday’s edition. Last year’s race also recorded the highest ambient temperature in the category’s history. “We had 37oC on race day. And that certainly was an extra challenge. The maximum for next Saturday should be two degrees below that. So it won’t be much different. The important thing is to be prepared, ”comments Di Grassi. The race will feature 45 minutes plus one lap and will be the 61st in the history of the F-E series.
