Audi driver scored points again in Saudi Arabia
Lucas Di Grassi finished in the eighth position the second round of the Formula E World Championship, the second leg of the double header held in Saudi Arabia. After starting from 15th position, Lucas faced performance problems in his car, but still completed the race in 8th position. The race was marked by a series of incidents, especially by the serious accident with the Mahindra of Briton Alex Lynn, who capsized and continued to drag himself upside down on a long stretch of asphalt, ending the race on the 26th of the 29 laps. According to information from the organization, despite the shocking image, Lynn was taken to a hospital and is doing well.
“First of all, I was relieved by this preliminary report that Alex is doing well. This is the most important thing, ”says Di Grassi. “Regarding the double round, this was not the ideal weekend in terms of results, with the 9th and 8th places that we got this Friday and Saturday. But even so, the car showed that it has potential if we work on it. These two races were just the beginning and there is still a lot to happen in the championship. I am happy to be back in competition and very anxious to see our work showing results this year ”, concluded Lucas, Formula E champion in 2017.
The victory in this Saturday’s race was conquered by British Sam Bird (Jaguar), with the first place on Friday being guaranteed by the Dutchman Nyck De Vries (Mercedes), who leads the classification with 32 points, against 25 of Bird. Di Grassi has six points in 14th position. The next round of the Formula E World Championship is scheduled for April 10 in Rome, Italy.
