Di Grassi gets fourth consecutive podium in F-E

Brazilian was second placed in Punta Del Este, Rome, Paris and now in Berlin



Reigning Formula E world champion Lucas Di Grassi is writing another impressive chapter in his career: in just two months the Brazilian scored no fewer than six podiums, considering Brazilian Stock Car races and Formula E. This Saturday (May 19th), Di Grassi grabbed his fourth consecutive second place in Formula E, a result which places him among the main protagonists in all the latest races in the category: Punta Del Este, Rome, Paris and now Berlin. The winner was German Daniel Abt, Lucas’ teammate at the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler squad. The one-two in Berlin is perhaps Audi’s most striking result of the season. “This one-two was important for the team, so I’m more than happy also for my partner’s victory. We are in a great moment, “said Lucas. “Now we will work hard the Zurich race in Switzerland. I know we will be among the most competitive guys out there again, “concluded Lucas Di Grassi.


The Brazilian started the race very well in fifth place, showing his determination as he tried to overcome right on the first corner the Belgian Jérome D’Ambrosio, the two cars touching in a clean and exciting move. The overtaking, however, three laps later, when Lucas set the best lap time of the race as for that moment. The Brazilian then began the challenge third-placed Jean-Eric Vergne. In the 11th lap, Di Grassi overcame the Frenchman and also surprised placed Oliver Turvey at the same point of the track during the next lap. Di Grassi then tried to approach race leader Daniel Abt.


At this point the difference between the two was four seconds, but after the mandatory car swap pit stop Lucas was only 0s6 off the leader. The Brazilian, however, faced problems with the steering system of the second car, which prevented him from posting faster laps. “The important is the team has made a historic one-two, especially as we are racing in Germany, where the team is based. I am very happy with what we did today. Thanks to everyone on the team and also to the fans and friends who have voted me in the fanboost, “concluded Lucas Di Grassi.


The next race of Formula E will be held on June 10 in Zurich.
