Di Grassi wins and now is second placed in Brazilian Stock Car

Lucas scored the most points on the weekend

Lucas Di Grassi won in style in only his second event of his debuting season in the Brazilian Stock Car Championship. As he climbed the top of the podium, the # 11 car driver also secured the first HERO Motorsport team win. Completing the excellent weekend, Lucas was sixth in the first race of the event held this Sunday in Curitiba. In the sum of the two races, he was the competitor that scored the most points (35). The good results also secured Di Grassi the second place in the championship standings.

This was the first race of the Stock Car series in which Lucas Di Grassi drove alone. His four previous appearances were done in the Doubles Race, an invitational event in which some of the world’s top drivers are picked to partner the official competitors. “I did a conservative strategy, I saved the tires and also saved a couple of pushs. I did not even have to use them. It was a very good race and the team did a great job. I would like to thank everybody for the work our team did here. I’m very pleased to have achieved my first victory, in my first race without being the Doubles Race, “said Di Grassi.

Despite racing in the Brazilian series for just a short period, Di Grassi looked like a veteran in Curitiba. “The Stock Car races are a lot of fun, the format with Hero Push is really cool, so I had a lot of fun. But I also worked hard to reach that level of quality in the setup. What happened here in Curitiba shows we are here to stay, to be competitive, ” said the current Formula E world champion.
